Seven wins keep M&M top

MEDWay & Maidstone’s men consolidat­ed their lead in the Kent Masters League, Division 2 table and the women improved to fifth overall in Division 1, at Canterbury on Monday. There were seven wins for a strong M& M men’s team in the lower division. Scott Craddock (25.0sec) and alex Beech (26.3) doubled the M35 200m and Ian Hough (4min 27.8sec) and Justin Lane (4.44.3) took both strings in the M35 1,500m. Marco Ronchetti won the M35 high jump (1.50m) and Stuart Earl took the M35 javelin (33.84). Craddock, Ronchetti, Beech and Kevin Williams won the 4x100m relay (52.2). The busiest athlete was team manager Steve Hesketh, who helped as an official as well as competing in the javelin, shot and M60 1,500m. Dartford Harriers won their second match in the women’s first division to top the league table. Jenny Fowler was M& M’s only winner with 5.05.7 in the W35 1,500m. There were second places for Maria Newton in the W35 shot (6.99) and Pat Oakes in the W60 shot (6.15). Women’s Division 1: 1 Dartford 76; 2 Blackheath 58; 3 Cambridge 48; 4 Medway and Maidstone 42; 5 Bromley 37; 6 Paddock Wood 37. Division 2: 1 Bexley 53; 2 Invicta 6.
