Fundraisers take it brick by brick

-

OFF the wall it clearly is, but this strip of brick-covered paper should help build a successful future for generations to come.

Supporters are being asked to buy a brick in a joint campaign

by the congregation of St Faith’s Church in Maidstone and the Ringlestone Community Association to raise funds for a new community building.

Almost 100 people attended a variety show in the existing St Faith’s Hall in Monckton Lane, Ringlestone, on Friday night, while the official launch on Saturday attracted another 100 people, including the new Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Clive English, and the former Bishop of Maidstone, the Rev Graham Cray.

The two events raised £1,000 towards the £650,000 needed for a new building to replace the existing structure which dates from 1935.

The curate of St Faith’s, the Rev Phil Sheldrake, said: “it was a good start.”
