Old school uniforms put to good use
CHILDREN in Chernobyl will be sporting school uniforms thanks to youngsters in Maidstone.
Shernold School’s secondhand shop was left with a pile of uniforms after a new design was unveiled at the start of the academic year.
The independent school, in Queen’s Avenue, decided to donate them to the town’s branch of charity Chernobyl Children’s Life Line.
Each year chairman Gwen Wood arranges for a group of children from the Ukraine to spend a month in the town. This year, children will return with the uniforms.
