Go-ahead for new primary

-

A CHRISTIAN group has been given the go- ahead to open a primary school in Maidstone.

The government backed the proposal from Jubilee Church, in Upper Stone Street, for a free school catering for 60 pupils.

Tiger Primary School in Loose, which opened in September, was the first free school in Kent.

Free schools are run by teachers, parents or religious groups, rather than under council control.

Members of Jubilee Church say the school is likely to be to the west of Maidstone. A £10,000 grant has been secured from the New Schools Network.
