Pensioner’s plea for more buses

-

A PENSIONER has issued a plea for more buses from her village into town.

Boughton Monchelsea resident Oonagh Hyndman, 70, made the request at a parish council meeting, attended by Arriva’s commercial manager Richard Patterson.

Just three buses travel from Boughton Monchelsea and Chart Sutton into Maidstone on week days. Buses leave The Albion pub in Boughton Monchelsea at 7.41am, 9.58am and 1.55pm.

Coming home a bus leaves King Street at 12.30pm, at 4.10pm during term time and at 5.45pm.

Mrs Hyndman, of Meadow View Road, said: “The first bus is always full with schoolchildren. So if you take the 9.58, the earliest you can get into Maidstone is about 10.30am.”

She said: ”I’m very grateful for Mr Patterson being at the meeting, but he wasn’t actually able to offer any solutions.”
