Shocked by racism on my doorstep

I AM a French national who has now spent over half my life in Britain. I am a resident of Snodland, where I have lived for the last 15 years. I have a great affection for this country and I feel I owe Britain a great deal. Indeed, I actually became an adult here: having completed my studies in Paris, it is in the UK that I found work, met my husband, had two children, and trained to become a teacher which I have done for the last 13 years. Recently, for the first time in all these years, I was confronted with racism on my doorstep. I heard two teenagers passing by, giggle and make some sarcastic comments.
