Fining not best way to deal with litter

HOW can any council justify taking nearly one million pounds out of the local economy, at a time of severe recession that is helping to close shops and drive thousands of people out of town, while the ‘real’ culprits continue to litter. Zero tolerance is fine but is not just about fining people, this will not bring pride back to our town or make it litter free. Let all the shops participate in an anti-litter campaign, Let’s have more Keep Maidstone Clean litter bins. Let clubs and pub flyers all carry a strong message, schools can focus on a big litter challenge and let all A-boards carry the message.
