Dragon boat racers needed by charity
A FIRST aid charity is urging the people of Maidstone to climb aboard a dragon boat to support their cause.
The St John Ambulance needs participants for the KM Dragon Boat Race at Mote Park in Maidstone on Sunday, July 14.
It has two boats booked for the KM Charity Team event and is looking for enthusiastic paddlers to sign up and help raise vital funds to support its first aid work.
Regional fundraising co-ordinator for St John Ambulance, Mia Broughton, said: “Across the South East each year our 4,000 volunteers attend hundreds of event providing first aid care to people in need.
“We also train thousands of people in businesses, schools and community groups so they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved should they ever need to.
“We rely on public support to continue our work and would love to hear from anyone interested in taking part in this fabulous event on our behalf.
“The Dragon Boat Race could be a really great way for colleagues to get together for a team building event or for individuals who want to support St John Ambulance and have fun at the same time.”
Entry and registration is free and each competitor is required to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.
People can register as individuals or small groups who will then be placed onto a team or groups of 11 can register as a whole team.
