King’s grand display

YOLANDA KING won the women’s band one singles category at the London Grand Prix in Redbridge. The 18-year-old, representi­ng Weald Table Tennis Club, beat Wales internatio­nal Nicole Hall 11- 8, 11-7, 6-11, 11-7 in the final. She also reached the semi-finals of the under-21 women’s singles. Benenden’s Lewis Gray, 19, reached the quarterfin­als of the men’s singles event and made it through to the final of the under-21 singles. TWO local players enjoyed success at the Kent Closed Championsh­ips at Howard School, Rainham. Barming’s Emma Tovey won the ladies’ singles and doubles events as well as the under-21 singles, while Jill Shipton (Hillreed) won the ladies’ veterans title.

KINGS HILL Table Tennis Club is running a taster session at the Community Centre on Wednesday, June 5, from 8pm.
