Spitfires face team changes
KENT Spitfires face a selection dilemma as they seek to continue their push for the knockout stages of the Yorkshire Bank 40 competition. Second-placed Kent go into Sunday’s clash against Northants Steelbacks at Tunbridge Wells possibly without three important players. Captain James Tredwell is a definite absentee after linking up with the England squad ahead of today’s (Friday) ODI with New Zealand. Sam Northeast missed out on this week’s visit of Leicestershire in the LV= County Championship Division 2 due to illness, while Mark Davies was ruled out with a left bicep injury sustained during Sunday’s one-day defeat against Sussex. Davies could still be sidelined for the start of Wednesday’s championship game at Hampshire. Adam Riley came into the four-day side against Leicestershire in place of Tredwell with Calum Haggett replacing Davies. Before joining up with England, Tredwell admitted: “Davies is a big loss, he’s a big player for us, he’s good to have around and we want him fit as soon as possible. “He made the inroads we needed at Essex and has been in good form, so hopefully he’ll get some rehab and be back within a couple of weeks.” Kent are seeking to make it five wins from seven Group A matches at the Nevill Ground on Sunday (1.45pm). Geraint Jones, who will skipper the side in Tredwell’s absence, said: “In these competitions you want to stay on a winning roll. Hopefully, it will be another wicket our batsmen can prosper on.”
