Medway and Maidstone moved to within one point of leaders Bexley by winning their latest UK Youth Development League, Division 3 fixture at Medway Park, writes Alan Newman. A total of 658 points sufficed for victory over Bexley (593), Hastings (522), Lewes (445), Worthing (424), East Grinstead (382.5), Holland Sports (262) and Medway Park Phoenix (200.5).
Under-15 winners included Rory Kuypers (11.7sec) and Nathan Isaac (12.1) at 100m, Isaac Milham (37.5 PB) and Lewis Cable 41.4) at 300m, Reegan Archer (4min28.9sec) in the 1,500m, Milham at 80m hurdles (11.7) and Jack Royden (13.85m) in the shot.
In the under-13 events, Bashiri Ryan (1.35 PB) won the high jump on countback.
Zach Smith was second in the 100m (14.1), with Jacob Wells (13.8 PB) winning the B-string. Smith was also runner-up at 200m (28.3 PB). Ryan (4.48.2 PB) and Luke Stringer (4.54.3) dropped only one point in the 1,500m.
Emily Featherstone (12.1) and Lucy Maunders (12.7 PB) topped the under-15 girls’ 75m hurdles results and Featherstone (1.56 PB) and Lauren Farley (1.40 PB) dominated the high jump.
Farley (20.98) won the javelin and Zara Edeleanu (4.80 PB) was clear of the field in the long jump.
The under-13 girls added maximum points from Kaliyah Young (11.0) and Connie Lamplugh (10.8 PB) in the 75m and Maisie Rixon (20.4 PB) at 150m.
Lamplugh (11.9) took the 70m hurdles and there were top scores from Hollie Newman (7.70 PB) and Rixon (7.70 PB) at shot, Young (4.41 PB) and Lamplugh (4.05 PB) at long jump and Young (1.40) and Rixon (1.35) at high jump.
Abigail Walters, Lamplugh, Rixon and Young took the under-13 4x100m (56.5) and Jade Oni, Maunders, Farley and Edeleanu won the under-15 4x100m. Steven Abbott, Jacob Wells, Ryan and Smith won the under-13 boys’ 4x100m (56.1).
