MONDAY Kent Masters League,

The 25-year-old, who had already achieved the qualifying standard on a number of occasions, sealed his place by finishing the 20k race walk in 1hr25min28sec at a windy Bedford International Stadium track. He said: “It’s a relief to have my place on the British Athletics team confirmed so my preparations for the Worlds can get under way. “I knew going into the trial that finishing top two of the British athletes wasn’t going to be a problem to get automatic qualification.” Bosworth is based at the National Race Walking Centre in Leeds and competes for his home club, Tonbridge AC. He has already had a year to remember after winning the national 20k title for the fourth time and breaking the British 10k record that had stood for 26 years. He added: “It’s also great to get a number of qualifying times done earlier in the season, which I did again this year, so the pressure was off me and I can now enjoy my preparations for the biggest race of my career to date.” Bosworth is also looking further ahead to the Rio 2016 Olympics but with some trepidation that he may not be able to maintain the intense training and nutrition programme he needs following the loss of a key sponsor earlier this year. It is essential he secures additional sponsors to help him on his journey If you are able to help with sponsorship, get in touch via his website www. tombosworth.com
