The children’s Trophy, 8 years and under was shared by Scarlett Roper-Davis and Kieran Francis. The best exhibit in the Show went to Michael Wood for his (now famous) carrots. The Annual trophies and vouchers were presented to Michael Wood; John Millen; Janet Francis; Yvonne Crampton; June Bick; Peter Smith. Well done everyone. The cash prizes for the Autumn Show were given to Michael Wood, Yvonne Crampton Peter Smith, John Harris, Jayne Raffill, Som Bell and Janet Francis. Scarlett Roper-Davis and Kieran Francis won £5 each in the childrens’ classes. The Committee decided to present a new cup at the Autumn show in Memory of our Secretary Paula Doust, who sadly died last year. The winner of the cup was June Bick who had accrued the most number of points in the year for handicraft­s. Our thanks to the committee for a wonderful year of shows and outings. Pop-up counter: On Saturday mornings when Post Office services are not operative in the Teston Stores an imaginativ­e idea will be put into action with effect from Saturday, September 12 (9am-noon). During that time the counter will be used to spotlight creations such as jewellery, cards and ceramics by HannahMade. Each week it is hoped to highlight the output of various producers giving them an added outlet while bringing their work to the attention of the shop users. Tomorrow, Saturday, September 12 is the day when participan­ts walk or cycle to as many churches as they can to swell funds by sponsorshi­p. The more they visit the greater the amount raised with the sum divided equally between the ‘home’ church, St Peter and St Paul and the Friends of Kent Churches which distribute­s that part to those churches applying for funds because their congregati­ons are smaller than most but who are faced by heavy demands for upkeep. Details will be taken into account concerning the area of the proposed office and the cost and availabili­ty of meeting room facilities, amongst other considerat­ions. Councillor­s agreed to continue with the system of offering elected councillor­s a small attendance allowance for full parish council meetings of £10 which amounts to £8 after tax.
