Bourne come up short

Hollingbou­rne beat Tonbridge on the final day but not by enough to snatch Premier Division promotion.

Bourne needed to win by 10 wickets or at least 90 runs to overhaul Tonbridge in second place last Saturday. But the margin of victory was only 18 runs and the hosts finished third.

Captain Ian Playfoot was unbeaten on 119 as Hollingbou­rne closed on 203-5. Tonbridge were 185 all out with Robbie Palmer taking 4- 44.

Kings Hill missed Championsh­ip East points.

They beat Sandwich by 116 runs but finished just behind Mersham, with only one team going up.

Half-centuries from Mohammed Cowdhury (56) and Neil Scott (51) led Kings Hill to 238- 6. Scott took 5-30 as Sandwich were bowled out for 122.

Staplehurs­t place with a Cobham.

Tom Havard (4- 61) restricted Cobham to 179-9. Tom Davey saw Staplehurs­t home with an unbeaten 82 from 81 balls.

Headcorn ended the Division 1A Central season with a 79-run defeat by Boughton & Eastwell. Needing 182 for victory, they were bowled out for 102.

Peter Bowles hit 77 for The Mote 3rds in a total of 180- 4 but they lost to champions Borstal by five wickets.

Snodland Community were held to 169-8 in a five-wicket defeat by Belvedere in Division 1A West.

Hunton Wanderers were pipped to promotion from Division 1B West, even though they won and rivals Milstead lost.

Alex Newman made 63 as Hunton closed on 185-9 against a Lordswood 3rds side who finished six runs short on

clinched third six-wicket win over 179-7. But Wanderers still finished third as Milstead picked up enough points in their defeat by champions Sheldwich to hold on to second place.

Bottom side Yalding collected 20 points after Holborough Anchorians 3rds conceded.

Snodland lost by 90 runs at home to Bexleyheat­h in Division 1B West. They were 74 all out in reply to 164-7.

Holborough Anchorians 2nds were relegated from Division 2A East after losing to Mersham 2nds.

They finished second-bottom after being bowled out for 99 in a five-wicket defeat.

Leeds & Broomfield 2nds had to settle for second place. They struggled to 88-8 in a seven-wicket defeat by Old Williamson­ians 2nds as Bapchild clinched the title.

The Mote 4ths finished only three points clear of the drop in Division 2B Central.

A total of 121- 8 didn’t trouble Borstal 2nds, who won by seven wickets.

One place and one point above The Mote were Staplehurs­t 2nds who lost to Cobham by nine wickets after limping to 67- 8.

Lenham celebrated the Division 2C Central title after Bobbing Court & Lower Halstow conceded.

Ten-man Headcorn 2nds lost to Boughton & Eastwell 2nds by 30 runs. They reached 118 in reply to 148- 6.

Hunton Wanderers 2nds lost to Lordswood 4ths by 194 runs. Wanderers collapsed to 82 all out after Lordswood made an impressive 276-3.
