An abandonmen­t denied Catford the chance to overhaul Leeds’ seven-point advantage.

And while it meant Leeds were champions in Chris Davis’ first season as captain, he would rather have settled the issue out in the middle.

Mark Sandhu, who took over as skipper this season, saw his side clinch the title with victory over Limpsfield Chart. Steve Horrocks and junior Alex Lush claimed three wickets each as Chart closed on 184-9. Skipper Sandhu top scored with 66 from 87 balls to set up a five-wicket success. Steve Benjamin’s 40 victims made him the leading wickettake­r in the division, backed up by Andrew Dampier (28) and Sandhu (26). Bearsted’s leading runscorers were Dan Jefferies (478), Ben Johnston (365) and Noel Johnston (353). Marden (123) finished with a three-wicket defeat by Withyham. Linton Park 2nds clinched promotion from Division 6 on the final day. Glen Rawson made 47 in a total of 178-4 against closest rivals Locksbotto­m, who started above Park in third. Ian Hollingwor­th and Martin Harris took three wickets each as the visitors were bowled out for 120 in reply, Linton winners by 58 runs. Relegated Bearsted 2nds finished with a nine-wicket win against Limpsfield Chart 2nds (120). Bottom side Marden 2nds were bowled out for 59 in a 78-run defeat by Speldhurst 2nds.
