Back plans for air ambulance move

-

For many years I have been a volunteer for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust (KSSAAT).

A more professional organisation you could not wish to meet and if it feels for operational reasons it would be beneficial to combine their activities to one central base then I am quite sure it has thoroughly researched that possibility. None of us know when we might be in need of the brilliant services of KSSAAT, and I urge the local community around Old Hay airfield to support the trust with their proposal. I was very pleased to see the air ambulance is looking to move to a single base near Paddock Wood. Having looked at a map this looks like an ideal position to cover the whole of Kent, Surrey and Sussex within a short flying time. With their new helicopter this will lead to an even better service, so well done and I hope this goes through. Martin Hotston via email

I just wanted to drop you a line to voice support for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance team to move into their proposed new site. A dedicated airfield will be just perfect and far superior to their present two base situation.

One base will be far more cost efficient in terms of pooling the cost of admin staff, utilities etc. Crew cover and equipment will be more efficiently utilised. Night flights will be far safer with more room to manoeuvre. On-site choice of vehicle for specific emergencies will be easier. On-site parking will be far less cramped resulting in less potential vehicle damage for staff and visitors.

Good luck for your proposed new home KSSAA - I’m sure it will be an absolute boon. Sue Pearson KSSAA volunteer
