Boyfriend’s Argos proposal a done deal

-

Happy couple to collection point number three…

On Tuesday stunned customers in a High Street store witnessed a man pop the question to his girlfriend.

Jamie Harbour collected a ring from the Elizabeth Duke jewellery counter, in Argos, Maidstone, and simply couldn’t wait to ask his girlfriend, 27-year-old Kimberley Fillery, to marry him.

Mr Harbour, 23, said he had mixed emotions beforehand.

“I felt so happy, but worried that she might say no,” he said. “But when I heard her say yes I felt so happy that I wanted to cry.”

When asked about the quirky location of the proposal, the Tonbridge resident said: “I did it in Argos just because I couldn’t wait any longer to ask Kim to marry me.”

Staff and customers stopped and cheered after she agreed to become Mrs Harbour – with staff behind the jewellery counter pointing out it was their first proposal.

Andy Fraser, who saw the event and took a picture of the scene, only popped in to pick up an iron and a set of scales.

He said: “I was just waiting to pick up my goodies and suddenly heard all this going on, turned and looked and couldn’t believe what I saw – they smiled, kissed, and looked so in love.

“People have said ‘why in Argos?’ But if they’re in love, who cares where?

“It was an unexpected moment and one that left everyone in the store happy.”
