Ammonia man behind bars

-

A clubber has been locked up after he was found to be carrying a bottle of dangerous liquid in a Herne Bay nightspot.

Fred Ketteringham, 20, was in The Front in Central Parade when revellers alerted police to the bottle of ammonia solution.

Ketteringham, from Kemsley near Sittingbourne, was found and arrested.

He pleaded guilty to possession of a noxious liquid at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court last week.

Magistrates sent him to a young offenders’ institute for 16 weeks. Tributes have been paid to a well known Saturday and Sunday league football player who died suddenly.

Friends and team-mates have expressed their shock and sadness at the death of Andy Hone.

All games in the Ashford and District Sunday League were asked to observe a minute of applause before kick-off.

News of Mr Hone’s death was published on the Sunday league’s website on Saturday, but the circumstances are not yet known.

The popular 43-year-old fatherof-two had played for Ashford Dynamo Football Club since the age of 15, making a club record 1,200 appearances in a range of positions.

The postal worker had also played for Shadoxhurst and Aldington and was a trophy-winning darts player.

An inquest was due to open yesterday (Thursday).
