Nomination­s are being reviewed by the parish council; the award will not be based on the volume of nomination­s for any one individual. Vacancy – time for a change: Simon Poulton has decided to resign as correspond­ent for Broomfield/Kingswood. We would like to thank Simon for his efforts on our behalf. Consequent­ly, we are looking for a replacemen­t. Our team regularly send us reports of community events on their doorstep. It might be details of a drop-in session for an advice service, blood donor sessions, fetes, walks, things to do, school fetes or reports from parish council meetings. You might be a parish clerk, the editor of your village magazine or simply someone who is keen to make sure people are in the know Local solicitors are switching paper trails for scenic treks as they showcase support for a charity walk. Gullands Solicitors of Maidstone is encouragin­g locals to take part in the KM Charity Walk which celebrates its 21st birthday this year. Marianne Webb of Gullands said: “We have a long tradition of supporting local charities, and being involved in this milestone anniversar­y of the walk is greatly satisfying. “The KM Charity Team organises many events annually in Maidstone and being at the very heart of the town makes our partnershi­p all the more rewarding.” Booking is open for the Specsavers-supported walk on Sunday, June 26. Walkers can choose a 10 mile or five mile trek which starts at the grade II listed mansion Mote House, Maidstone and ventures through to Leeds Castle. All entrants will receive a limited edition medal for their Village Coffee Shop: The village coffee shop will be in the village hall on Saturday May 7 from 10amnoon. Serving teas/coffees. Sausage and bacon rolls/sandwiches and there big breakfasts. PJ’s of Sutton Valance will be selling veg and fresh bread. East Sutton Park will be selling plants and meat. There will also be various craft stalls selling their wares. WI: The next meeting is on Monday, May 9 at 7.30pm at Kingswood Village Hall. This will be the annual meeting with resolution­s followed by cheese and wine. The talk will be on Cynbhobia by Janet Tandy. achievemen­ts, as well as a goody bag and a barbecue on their return. Taking part costs £11.50 per adult and children under 16 go free. Walkers are encouraged to get sponsorshi­p for their ramble. A concert of sacred and secular choral music through the ages, including Tallis, Mozart, Stanford and Finzi by The Companye of Singers, a choir based in Sutton Valence, directed and conducted by Sue Wight.
