STONES FANS HAVE BIG ROLE TO PLAY, SAYS SAUNDERS

He said: “Come along, make plenty of noise and get behind the boys. Please don’t think it’s done and dusted.

“The crowd make such a difference and in Truro they were outstandin­g. To come that far on a Wednesday night, the boys and myself appreciate it and hopefully they can come Sunday and get us over that line. It would be lovely to get them into the final. They deserve it, and we’re within touching distance.”

General sales continue until 7pm today (Friday), with any remaining tickets expected to be gone by midday tomorrow.

Away goals don’t count in the play-offs, so any two-goal win for Truro would take the tie to extra-time and possibly penalties.

Saunders said: “At four or five up you’re pretty much there but, at 2- 0, an early goal for them and everything changes.

“They’ve got to have a go and sometimes they’re the hardest teams to play against.

“I’m sure a lot of people will think it’s game over, so it’s a tricky one. The first 15-20 minutes are going to be crucial.

“We’ll train Friday. If we put in as good a performanc­e, if not better, then we’re in the final and that would be an unbelievab­le achievemen­t.”

Maidstone held their nerve in the first leg and while Saunders may make some changes, he’s likely to stick with the old heads.
