It is not often that we get the chance to use the word ‘scorchio’. The hottest place in Kent on Tuesday was Gravesend with 32C (89.60F). In Frittenden, I recorded 30.6C (87.08F). Humidity has been very high, and night minimum temperatures did not fall below 22.6C (72.68F). The record for the warmest night was in 1995 in Brighton at 23.9C (75.02F). Today (Friday): If you didn’t enjoy the heat, it will be a much fresher day. There will be some good spells of sunshine, but also some cloud at times. There will be the risk of afternoon showers followed by a fine evening. Winds will be easterly at 8-14mph with temperatures at 23C (73F), close to normal. Tomorrow (Saturday): There will be variable cloud with some good sunny spells. Winds will be south westerly at 6-10mph with temperatures at 24C (75F). High pressure looks like staying relatively high, giving Kent the best of the summer weather for the next six days. Sunday: Good spells of sunshine, but also a few cloudy spells. Winds will be south westerly at 4-9mph and temperatures at 25C (77F). It will still be on the humid side, but a great weekend for getting outside and enjoying the sunshine. Monday to Thursday: Staying largely fine, with just a small risk of the odd home grown shower. There will be long spells of sunshine each day. Winds will be mostly southerly or south westerly and temperatures will continue to be above normal all week around 24-27C (75-81F) with night minimum temperatures of 14-17C (58-63F), still on the warm side for sleeping. It will also continue to be humid.
