Corbyn reclaims party’s soul

-

I refer to previous letters by Gabby Massey and Colin Bullen.

A positive outcome for the Labour Party is Jeremy Corbyn; he is reclaiming the soul of the party left behind by New Labour. We are aware that neo-liberal ideology (austerity) is not working for people in the UK or Europe; it is only working for the rich (1%).

Jeremy Corbyn is well known as being an experienced and honest politician committed to the wellbeing of working people, the poor, the vulnerable and is concerned about young people’s futures.

Corbyn pledges, if he wins the leadership (again) of the Labour Party, to address issues affecting millions of people in the UK such as homelessness, the gradual closing down of our NHS by the Tories, privatisation of public services. He pledges full employment and an economy that works for all (challenging zero hours contracts).

He is also pledging a secure homes guarantee, where spiralling rents in the private rented sector are affecting people’s standard of living and creating insecurity.

It is in humankind’s interests not to become divided and the way to achieve this is to address drama of the highest quality, the 2016 Rio Olympics have elevated Britain to become a sporting super power with Team GB winning 67 medals and coming second in the final league table.

Next time you’re tempted to buy a lottery ticket remember it creates much more than just one jackpot, so why buy one ticket when you can have two. Here’s to success for our Paralympians this September and then onwards and upwards to Tokyo in 2020.
