Teenager’s tasty business bubble

-

Why wait until you’ve finished school to seek your fortune? Louis Inge, who is just 13, has already enjoyed a taste of business success.

Louis, a Year 9 pupil at Oakwood Park Grammar School in Maidstone, was on holiday with his parents in Hong Kong and Vietnam, when he had his idea.

His father Nick Inge said: “We saw a lot of street food stalls out there, especially waffle-sellers, and Louis just said: ‘I could do that.’”

Back at home in The Weavers in Allington, Louis set about researching his project.

He bought a second- hand maker on Gumtree and a trestle table from eBay. He visited Sutton Valence and East Farleigh farmers’ markets, where experience traders advised him to buy local produce, putting him in touch with a free-range egg producer in Boughton Monchelsea.

Some family friends, who were graphic designers, helped him come up with a logo. And now Louis’s Bubble Waffle Company is in business.

His father said: “He’s taken it very seriously and got all the necessary hygiene certificates to be permitted to sell food.”

You can visit Louis’s stall at Offham farmers’ market tomorrow (Saturday) or at the Busy Bees Nursery fete at Maidstone Hospital on Saturday, December 17.

Next year he has bookings for Wye farmers’ market and the St Simon Stock summer fete.
