Maidstone ladies were forced to hold on for a point, drawing 2-2 at home to Bromley & Beckenham in Kent League Division 1.

The hosts began well as they sought to get back to winning ways at home on Saturday and Jessica Cremin opened the scoring after a well-worked penalty corner.

After the break, Maidstone completed some fine passages of passing play and Cremin doubled their advantage from a move involving Steph Lurshay.

The lead lasted until the last 10 minutes when BromBecks managed to claw one back from a penalty corner and they then equalised in the dying seconds.

The ladies’ 2nds saw their Kent League Division 1 promotion hopes hit by back-to-back defeats in their first action following three blank weekends.

They went 2- 0 down against Anchorians on Saturday with outfield player Maddy Coffey pressed into goalkeeping duty but a superb pass by Gracey-Mei Wilsher allowed Claire Daniels to score, only for Anchs to add a third.

They also fell 2- 0 behind against Bromley & Beckenham on Sunday and although the home side came back out strongly in the second half with creative play from Grace Mansfield in midfield and Laura Jackson and Lesley Price up front, they were only able to fashion a single Jackson goal in reply.

Despite a bright start, the ladies’ 3rds suffered another defeat, going down 4-2 at Burnt Ash in Kent League Division 2.

Maidstone started the better and scored a rare goal from a penalty corner, fired home by Jaime Cronk.

Julie Davies then made it 2- 0 but Ash regrouped and scored four goals without reply.

The ladies’ 4ths couldn’t see off Blackheath & Old Elthamians despite bossing their Kent League Division 5 clash.

Despite several attacks by the home side, it took until midway through the second half for them to finally score when Nicky Bourne drew the keeper before slipping the ball to Nicky Coomansingh to tap home.

Minutes later, Maidstone failed to clear, allowing Blackheath to intercept and fire in a shot which deflected into the net past Kay Bowley off Maidstone’s Michelle Smith.

The hosts had full control after the equaliser but couldn’t find the net. The men’s 5ths beat Folkestone 7ths 4-1 in Kent Open Division 3.

Good interplay saw Simon Emery and Dylan Collie cut through Folkestone’s defence and set up Simon Wood to open the scoring within five minutes.

Wood and Barry Coffey extended the lead to 3- 0 within 20 minutes but Maidstone eased off allowing Folkestone to convert a penalty corner.

Wood completed his hat-trick in the second half with a well-taken reverse effort to seal victory.

The 6ths continued their good form with a 2-1 win at New Beccehamians in Kent League Division 5. Both sides wasted chances in a goalless first half with some good saves by Ross Lewsby and solid defending from Andy Parks, Adam Moore, Adie Lake and Meurig Jones.

The hosts went ahead shortly after half-time after a controversial decision but Maidstone battled back and Matt Evans won a penalty corner from which Mike StockerHarris’ strike was stopped illegally on the line and Parks scored the resultant penalty stroke.

With only four minutes left, Danny Swartz squeezed the ball through to Evans who turned and crossed for Josh Lake to convert the winner.

Marden ladies travelled with just 11 players for their match against Canterbury 3rds.

Despite an initial push by Canterbury, Marden looked the stronger and took the lead from a penalty corner, put in off a rebound by Kara Kock, before Laura Hill struck twice to make it 3- 0.

After the break, Canterbury pushed forward and earned several penalty corners which were all dealt with by the Marden defence, while a break from Marden saw Kock grab her second but although Marden had a number of breaks, they couldn’t extend their lead.

Marden ladies’ 2nds hosted New Becchamians and although they fell behind, three goals from Sian Price, two from Lizzie George and one from Thara Brunt gave the hosts a 6-2 victory which took them back to the top of Kent League, Division 4.
