Angels players hold ‘clear the air’ talks

Tonbridge players have met to discuss their poor form. The squad had a get-together at training on Tuesday night in a bid to halt a seven-match winless run. Angels lost 3-0 at home to Harlow last weekend and have slipped out of the Ryman League, Premier Division play-off places. They sit sixth with five games left, starting at improving Hendon on Saturday. Angels boss Steve McKimm said: “The players had a meeting among themselves – they know things haven’t been good enough. “They called the meeting – there was no management there – so we’ll see what happens. “They’ve had clear the air talks and I’d like to think they all had their say. “We weren’t part of it as a management team and, if I’m honest, it doesn’t interest me because it’s come from the players. “They said they haven’t done well enough over the last few weeks and fair play to them. “No one’s hiding. They know the performances haven’t been good enough. It’s not just the players, we’re looking at ourselves as management too. “We’re all in it together and pulling in the same direction. “We’re in a mini-league of five trying to get in those playoffs. It’ll be tough for us but while we’ve got a chance, we still believe.” Former Reading and Stoke defender Ibrahima Sonko scored twice as Angels collapsed against Harlow. They’re out to put things right at Hendon, boosted by the return of Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson from his loan at St Neots. McKimm said: “All over we were poor on Saturday. “We didn’t play any football and we played into Harlow’s hands. It wasn’t good enough. It’s back to the drawing board. “Hendon will be an interesting game. They’ve picked up a lot and are fighting for their lives and we’re trying to get back in the play-offs.”
