LOZA FOCUSED ON KEEPING STONES SAFE

Jamar Loza’s internatio­nal ambitions are on hold while he plots Maidstone’s survival.

Loza has four caps for Jamaica and his Stones form must be catching the eye after six goals in his last three games, including his first hat-trick at Woking.

He’s feeling good but hasn’t thought about another call-up, having last played for his country three years ago.

Loza said: “I’m not thinking about that at the minute. I’m just trying to concentrat­e on the next eight games and make sure we stay in the league.

“The last few games I’ve been going out expecting to score, which helps and gives me confidence in front of goal to shoot when I get a chance instead of passing.”

Loza is more confident than ever that Maidstone will stay in the National League after their seven-match unbeaten run.

He added: “We don’t fear any team. We show them the respect they deserve but we go out now expecting to win, which we should because we’ve got a great team.

“We shouldn’t be where we are but we need to make sure the last eight games we put in the performanc­es like we did at Woking, especially the second half.”

Loza knew Maidstone would beat Woking the moment he pulled a goal back.

The former Norwich striker fired a special opener just minutes after the Cards had taken a two-goal lead. He felt United then played on Woking’s nerves in a 4-2 win.

Loza said: “We knew we could get back in the game and after I scored the first goal I think we all believed we’d come back and win the game.
