Two lovebirds were married on Tuesday in a beautiful ceremony at the Heart of Kent Hospice.

Nikki Allgood and Steven Dawson were only engaged five days before the wedding, which took place in front of friends and family at the centre in Preston Hall, Aylesford.

The new Mrs Dawson is currently receiving care at the inpatient unit, where she is battling cancer.

Supported by the hospice’s community nurse specialists, Steven has been his partner’s full-time carer at their home in the nearby Royal British Legion Village until early March, when she was transferred to the ward.

Mr Dawson proposed just five days before the wedding, which was planned with the help of friends, family, and hospice staff. Mrs Dawson was accompanied down the aisle in the Garden Room by the couple’s three-year- old daughter, Pearl.

The event was also made possible, thanks to kind donations from local businesses, including West Malling Flowers which provided posies and lilies for the ceremony after a last-minute call from one of the bride’s relatives. Photographer, Clair Gobin, from West Malling, also donated her time.

Laura Taylor, junior sister, said: “Being able to support Nikki and Steven’s wishes is what helps us to make every day precious for them and their families.

“Our role is not just about making patients comfortable, it’s about supporting their emotional and practical needs and those of their loved ones.

“Nikki looked stunning; I’m so pleased we could help make this special day a reality for her and those who love her.”
