From April 22 there are nets every Saturday morning at 10.30am at The Kintons. Well done to all the parents, carers, staff and children. Term ended with a fond farewell and thanks to Sue after 21 years of faithful service. She will be very much missed at Pre-school. Brain Train: A new group, known as Brain Train is starting at the Baptist hall on Fridays from 10am-3pm weekly. It is to help those experienci­ng memory problems or early stages of dementia. Details are available by calling 07544 851 024. The weekly session costs £25 which includes lunch and refreshmen­ts. Half marathon runners: Long time Yalding resident, Dave Robinson, and Julie Chalker of The George both took part in the Paddock Wood half marathon last month and between them raised a staggering £700 for the Twyford Preschool. Well done Dave and Julie! Village Pensioners’ Club: The Village Pensioners Club next gets together on Tuesday April 25 from 2pm-4pm at the Social Club. All retired residents are welcome to go along for tea, chat and bingo. Patients’ Participat­ion Group: On Wednesday April 26, at 7.15pm, the Patients’ Participat­ion Group holds its agm upstairs at the surgery. All patients and staff are welcome to attend. The Baptist service with Treasure Seekers Junior Church starts at 10.30am at the Baptist Church. St George’s weekend: Live music from Matt Noorey will take place at The George on Saturday, April 22, from 8.30pm-11pm. As Sunday April 23 is St George’s Day, a traditiona­l English menu of fish and chips or pie and mash will be on offer over the weekend. Quiz tickets: It may not be too late to get tickets for the Friends of Yalding Surgery quiz which takes place on Saturday April 22, from 7pm at the village hall. Tickets are on sale at the surgery at £8 each and include a delicious ploughman’s supper. Please take your own drinks and glasses. Garden Society visit: On Monday April 24, Yalding Garden Society will be visiting Wakehurst Place. Gallery changes: The April exhibition at the Riverside Gallery ends on Monday, April 24, at 5pm. If you have not yet seen it, do go along either on Thursday, Saturday or Monday from 2pm-5pm. The new exhibition for May starts on Saturday, April 29, form 2-5pm. £1,000 for Porchlight: Yalding Sea Scouts raised an amazing £1,000 for the homeless charity Porchlight when they slept out under cardboard on Good Friday night. With a warm evening, only a light shower and some enormous tarpaulins, they survived through to a breakfast of bacon sandwiches and chocolate nests. Well done everyone!
