The 41-year-old smashed a career best 147 from just 67 balls – with 10 fours and 14 sixes – in the Royal London One-Day Cup defeat at Glamorgan – Kent’s highest ever white-ball knock.

Stevens said: “It was a great pitch – 700 runs scored in a game, 35 sixes, what more can you say? It’s just a shame we didn’t come out on the winning side.”

Stevens – who took 11 balls to make his first seven runs – said: “I wasn’t thinking about (beating Alex Blake’s 46-ball century against Somerset), all I was thinking about was trying to get us to 200, to 250, 300. I wasn’t thinking about fastest hundreds and all that sort of stuff. Division 2 Key: CC2 = Specsavers County Championship
