Pearce and Poddar lay foundation­s for win

A stand of 79 between Steve Pearce and Abbi Poddar helped Bearsted beat Linton Park in Division 1. Pearce was first to fall for 72 – a knock including 10 fours and three sixes – while Poddar went on to make 63. Bearsted were all out for 243, Matt Carter and Dan Thirkell with two wickets each. James Piper (43) and Josh Knowler (42) batted well but Steve Horrocks took 5-51 as Linton slipped to 210 all out and defeat by 33 runs. In Division 2, Marden lost to Flimwell by 93 runs. Mick Venner (3-28) removed both openers in single figures and soon had his N Turner not out .................................6 Extras ...............................................20 third wicket but Flimwell recovered for a total of 187-7. Four of Marden’s top six went without scoring as the reply slumped to 94 all out. Kevin Presneill just missed out on a century as Linton Park 2nds beat Betsham in Division 5. He went for 98 in a total of 208-5. It proved the key knock as Betsham were bowled out for 188 in reply, Linton winners by 20 runs. In Division 6, West Farleigh lost to Penshurst Park by four wickets. 0, S Woodroofe 4.1-1-18-5, Barden 1-0-9-0. Division 1: Wyn Barnardo made 79 as Farleigh closed on 214- 6. Park won with an over to spare. Lewis Bedwell starred as Division 7 leaders Hollingbou­rne won again. Bedwell took 5-12 with Dan Pritchard claiming 3-12 as Shoreham were bowled out for 84. Andy Griffiths made 30 for a Bourne side who completed a sevenwicke­t win. An unbeaten 65 from No.10 Jack Feehan helped Bearsted 2nds to 192 in their 65-run defeat to Eynsford. Division 4:
