‘Trucker pooing in front of my wife was last straw’
A retail park employee is desperate to put an end to lorry drivers pooing in the bushes after his wife witnessed a man drop his pants and defecate in front of her.
Jim Matthews, who works for Leay at the Quarry Wood Retail Park in Aylesford, has watched HGV drivers turn the area into a tip with beer cans and litter strewn across the road.
The 48-year-old window and door installer is calling for more measures to be taken to prevent the car park and pavement being used as a toilet.
He said: “I walk to Sainsbury’s to get my lunch and if it is sunny and warm the smell of urine is pretty strong.
“Railings have been put down one side of the road but there are bushes on the other side. They have put signs up telling people not to poo in the bushes and they have just been ripped down or they ignore them.
“I popped into work on Saturday and pulled up as I normally do. While my wife was in the car this guy just dropped his trousers.” The man then crouched down and did his business while looking at Mrs Matthews.
Mr Matthews has slammed the lorry drivers, many of whom are from Romania, Poland and Holland, and struggles to understand why they would not use the loos at Sainsbury’s or Homebase.
He said: “Every evening we will get lorries parking up here right on the corner and it makes it a hazard for those who are driving.
“One colleague was looking out of the window and one of the lorry drivers was naked in his cab. During the winter they have the engines on at 4am so they can keep warm.
“I have been working here for 28 years and I have watched it get progressively worse. The man taking a poo in front of my wife was the final straw.”
