Street art and music came together at Invicta Grammar School in Maidstone as children aged from eight to 18 took part in a free four-day summer course run by Kent Music. The Orchestra ONE event saw musicians joined by a group of artists led by Greg Stobbs who set about creating visual installati­ons to complement the music. The course culminated with a live concert for parents featuring 55 musicians. The project was sponsored by Golding Vision, the community arm of Golding Homes. Parish council: There will be a meeting of the planning committee at 7pm on Monday, August 21 followed by a full council meeting. Residents are welcome to attend and there is a public forum at the start and end of both of these meetings. There will be a council surgery at the library on Saturday, August 19 from 10-11am. Borough Cllr John Perry will be at the library on Saturday, August 26 from 10am-noon. Lunch club: For the over 55s held at the McCabe Centre, McCabe Close, Bell Lane on Thursdays and Sundays from 11.45am-1.45pm. The cost is £3 on a Thursday and £3.50 on Sunday. For inquiries phone Elaine Martin on 01580 892033. Staplehurs­t Bioblitz: The Bioblitz will take place at Wimpey Field from 10am-3pm on Wednesday, August 23. This will be a free event for all the family with guided walks and searching for mini-beasts, reptiles, birds and butterflie­s, plus a craft-making stall. The event will be run by Medway Valley Countrysid­e Partnershi­p www.medwayvall­ey.org.
