K Sports kitman Barry Fenn was back in the dugout shortly after losing his mum. Fenn went to say his goodbyes after laying out the kit for last Saturday’s game against Punjab United but returned within minutes of kick-off. Sports dedicated their 1- 0 victory to Fenn, who joined the Southern Counties East Division 1 club from Maidstone. K Sports manager Kris Browing said: “About an hour-and-a-half before the game, Barry said he had to shoot off because his mum only had hours to live. “We all chipped in to get him a taxi to Staplehurst to go and be with her. “Next thing, I looked round and he was sat on the bench – he’d asked the taxi driver to wait while he went to see his mum. She passed away about 10 minutes before he got there. “That’s Barry. He’s a football man and ever the professional. He stayed after the game, had his bitter-shandy and a couple of cans of Coke. “The lads all rallied round and dedicated the win to him.” Sports dominated the first half, creating several good chances. Ashley Cooper scored the only goal in the 65th minute. Sports visit fellow unbeaten side Bridon Ropes on Saturday.

Two goals in three minutes condemned Snodland Town to their second defeat of the season on Saturday. Kieron Fanner gave Bridon Ropes the lead eight minutes into the second half and Richard Jimoh quickly doubled the visitors’ advantage. Snodland, who have one point from their first three games in Southern Counties East League Division 1, visit FC Elmstead on Saturday.
