Coffee morning success

Hundreds of pounds were raised for charity on Friday as businesses across the county took part in Macmillan coffee mornings. Kent Scouts raised more than £420 at Lower Grange Farm in Sandling and Valerie Underdown made £400 at Chart Sutton Village Hall. The one at Aunt Sally’s Kitchen in Allington was a huge success, with more than £445 donated by customers in addition to its green and white party which raised more than £200 for the charity on Saturday, Feathers Bar and Grill at Lockmeadow raised close to £230 on Friday with its coffee morning. Residentia­l homes and retirement villages also got involved, with Audley Mote House in Maidstone raising £332 and its sister village Audley Willicombe Park in Tunbridge Wells collecting £127. Chamberlai­n Court Care Home in Tunbridge Wells put a cherry on top of their fundraiser with a visit from celebrity chef Phil Vickery, raising £170. ing Our Faith is a programme of two teaching/discussion mornings being held on Saturdays October 7 and 14, entitled Story-telling like Jesus. Both sessions will be held in the church starting at 9.30am with coffee and welcome followed by the teaching/discussion session from 10am-noon. Messy church will be held on Friday, October 6 from 4.15-6.15pm at The Brassey Centre. Fun crafts and celebratio­n for all ages. The cost is £1 per child (accompanie­d by an adult).
