Care home residents facing move
A care home which looks after people with dementia has been placed into administration, leaving residents facing the upheaval of moving out.
Beechtree House in Buckland Road, Maidstone, is run as a freehold business and offers residential care. It has now been taken over by Moorfields Advisory, which said places have already been found for residents affected by the closure.
Administrator Simon Thomas said: “Like many converted care facilities, Beechtree House struggled to comply with regulations, and increased operating costs have meant margins were tight.”
Administrators in turn appointed Healthcare Management Solutions to oversee the operational aspects of Beechtree House while the joint administrators assess the present position of the company and its future trading prospects.
Those parties interested in acquiring any of the companies’ assets are invited to contact the joint administrators.
Mr Thomas said: “Small residential care homes are faced with two main issues: a reliance on self-funders to increase profit margins and difficulties in attracting appropriate staff due to wage constraints.
“This home did not have funding for the capital expenditure required to improve the service, which had adversely affected its ability to attract private residents, with a resulting impact on profitability. We hope to be able to continue to trade Beechtree House while it is marketed for sale as going concern. During this time, the needs of the service users remain our main priority.”
