Youth charities look forward to big-quiz windfall

Two children’s charities will have something to smile about next month when they receive a cash windfall from the KM Big Charity Quiz.

Tickets are still available for teams of up to eight to join in the fun being staged by the Kent Messenger’s charity department on Friday, November 17, at Maidstone Leisure Centre, in Mote Avenue, Maidstone.

Money received from the sale of raffle tickets and refreshmen­ts at the Shepherd Neame charity bar will be matched pound for pound by Barclays bank.

This will boost the coffers of this paper’s charity of the year Leybourne Grange Riding Centre for the Disabled, which provides recreation­al and therapeuti­c riding sessions for youngsters.

Also receiving a share of the proceeds will be child-literacy 1: Golf 2: Divide 3: Tom Hiddleston 4: Michael Aspel 5: Paul Simon 6: New York, Paris and Peckham 7: 30 8: Stephen Hawking 9: 2004 and road-safety services for schools organised by the KM Charity Team.

Suzanne Giles, from Barclays, said: “We’re really looking forward to supporting and running the charity bar. It’s going to be really busy, but we thoroughly enjoy it.

“We’re also looking forward to using our local pound for pound to make sure that we’re supporting the charities for the KM Quiz.”

Quiz teams will receive a bottle of wine and substantia­l nibbles for the table and the chance to win a stack of prizes at the raffle, including toys and collectabl­es from Hornby.

One lucky quiz-goer could win a luxury spa day for two if they correctly answer an on-the-spot quiz question.
