Tom leaves field trailing
Maidstone Marathon
Runners were out in force at the Maidstone Marathon and Half-Marathon on Sunday. Medway & Maidstone athlete Tom Collins won the half-marathon in 1hr20min08sec, finishing almost two minutes clear of runner-up Ed Peters (1:22.01) and more than three minutes ahead of third-placed man Ross Brocklehurst (1:23.34). There were 421 finishers over the half distance as runners made their way through the villages of Boughton Monchelsea, Loose and East Farleigh from the Cornwallis Academy HQ. Liz Weeks, also of M& M, won the women’s race in 1:28.48 and was an impressive seventh overall. Matthew Field (Larkfield AC) came 14th in 1: 31.49, with Daniel St Martin, of race organisers Maidstone Harriers, 30th in 1: 36.54. Seventy-eight athletes completed the full marathon, led by Thanet Roadunners’ Bradley Cameron in 2:48.14. Ross Henschen finished runner-up in 3: 01.49, with Fabrice Klein third in 3: 03.20.
