A fitting way to mark 100 years

A WI celebrated its centenary by doing what they do best, meeting, chatting, and of course, eating cake.

The Bearsted and Thurnham WI has a range of events planned throughout its centenary year, but kicked off the celebrations with a busy meeting and celebration cake. It was cut by Jean Corps, the group’s longest serv- ing member, alongside Chris Henbest, the WI’s president.

The celebrations continued with the unveiling of the president’s board and a celebration banner, which will be used at monthly meetings and events.

Upcoming events include a celebration dinner, a guided walk around the area, and a summer tea party.
