Change to benefits due next month
Universal credit is less than a month away for Maidstone benefit claimants.
Rolling six different benefits into one payment, the change has been met with criticism in places where it has already started, with some claimants facing delays in payment.
From November 22, income support, jobseekers’ allowance, employment and support allowance, housing benefit, child tax credit and working tax credit will all come in lump sum.
Citizens Advice Maidstone is setting up a new service to help claimants with the change.
Chief officer Bonny Malhotra, said: “For people receiving benefits the roll-out of Universal Credit has brought challenges, such as delayed payments and a complicated application process.
“If you need help, or if you know anyone else who needs help, then please get in touch now.”
