James Hall was in the Great Britain men’s team who finished fifth in the World Championships in Doha on Monday. The Pegasus gymnast and GB team-mates Brinn Bevan, Max Whitlock, Dom Cunningham and Joe Fraser produced world-class routines but costly mistakes denied them a medal. The team title went to China (256.634pts), ahead of Russia (256.585) and Japan (253.744), while Britain scored 248.628. Some of Hall’s best work came on high bar, where a superb routine secured a score of 13.633. Olympic champion Whitlock said: “I’m proud of the boys. Fifth in the world is a great result.” Hall was due in action in the individual all-around final yesterday (Wednesday), having finished ninth in qualifying.
