Mak­ing a splash for char­ity cash

Teams of char­i­ta­ble swim­mers are set to take to the water in a re­lay to raise money for Chil­dren in Need.

On Sun­day, Novem­ber 25 more than 40 teams will bat­tle it out do­ing as many lengths as they can in half an hour at Maid­stone Leisure Cen­tre hop­ing to clinch the top spot and take home a tro­phy. Among the com­peti­tors be­ing cheered on by Pud­sey Bear and his friend Blush Bear will be dis­abled swim­mers.

The event, now in its third year, has pre­vi­ously raised a to­tal of £20,000 for the char­ity as well as a num­ber of other good causes.

It is or­gan­ised by The River­side Ro­tary Club and sup­ported by Maid­stone Bor­ough Coun­cil and SERCO, which man­ages the Maid­stone Leisure Cen­tre on be­half of the The Maid­stone Leisure Trust.

Clive Brad­burn, chair­man of the trust, said: “We are pleased and priv­i­leged to be sup­port­ing River­side Ro­tary in this fun event which pro­vides much needed funds not only for Chil­dren in Need, but a whole range of lo­cal and other char­i­ties.”
