Making a splash for charity cash
Teams of charitable swimmers are set to take to the water in a relay to raise money for Children in Need.
On Sunday, November 25 more than 40 teams will battle it out doing as many lengths as they can in half an hour at Maidstone Leisure Centre hoping to clinch the top spot and take home a trophy. Among the competitors being cheered on by Pudsey Bear and his friend Blush Bear will be disabled swimmers.
The event, now in its third year, has previously raised a total of £20,000 for the charity as well as a number of other good causes.
It is organised by The Riverside Rotary Club and supported by Maidstone Borough Council and SERCO, which manages the Maidstone Leisure Centre on behalf of the The Maidstone Leisure Trust.
Clive Bradburn, chairman of the trust, said: “We are pleased and privileged to be supporting Riverside Rotary in this fun event which provides much needed funds not only for Children in Need, but a whole range of local and other charities.”
