Men ar­rested over HGV break-in

A lorry driver sounded his horn as a group of men tried to break into his ve­hi­cle overnight at Maid­stone Ser­vices.

The man saw peo­ple caus­ing de­lib­er­ate dam­age to the cur­tain side of his lorry as he was parked at the fa­cil­i­ties, near Junc­tion 8 of the M20 at around 3.15am last Tues­day.

Af­ter he sounded his horn a group of men fled empty handed and left the scene in a car.

Po­lice were alerted and the sus­pects were sub­se­quently stopped in the Grays area of Es­sex hav­ing passed through the Dart­ford Cross­ing.

A search of the car led to var­i­ous items be­ing seized in­clud­ing a metal bar and a knife.

The sus­pects, a 46-year-old man from Bil­ler­icay, a 30-year-old man from Grays and a man aged 40 from Til­bury, were ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of theft and go­ing equipped for theft.

They were all sub­se­quently re­leased pend­ing fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
