Riot of colour at Diwali celebration

Helen Grant MP joined the Maidstone Nepalese Women Society for their colourful and vibrant Diwali celebrations.

Held at the Howard De Walden Centre in Maidstone, the festivities were attended by men, women and children from Maidstone’s Nepalese Community.

As a centrepiece of the festival of light celebrations. Mrs Grant, MP for Maidstone and the Weald, lit two large candles to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness.

Guests also enjoyed traditional foods and speeches from community leaders. Mrs Grant, who represents Maidstone and the Weald, said the Nepalese community are a treasured and much loved part of Maidstone’s fabric.
