All welcome to play in the park
A new play area featuring innovative swings, roundabouts and sensory equipment is being created in Mote Park.
The spot will also feature a rope tree climber, nest swing and a walk trail with low-level access.
A T-Rex carving will be suitable for children with visual impairments.
It opens in Spring and has been approved by a body called Plan Inclusive Play Areas (PiPA) recognising it is fully inclusive, offers sensory play and will be safe space for those who have extra needs.
Cllr Paul Harper, chairman of the Heritage, Culture and Leisure Committee, said: “Securing PiPA approval is a great endorsement of the efforts being made to ensure the park meets the needs of everyone who uses it.”
The new playground is part of Maidstone council’s £4.3 million redevelopment programme for Mote Park. This will also see the opening of a new Adventure Zone featuring high ropes, a climbing wall, mini golf and segway hire, along with a new visitor centre and café.
