Rodmersham net derby win

-

Rodmersham took the bragging rights on Saturday with a derby win away to Faversham.

The home side picked up early wickets and Will Dear claimed 4-33 while Benedict Croft returned figures of 3-30 from his 10 overs.

But 51 from captain Michael Jones, coupled with useful runs by Sukhpal Singh Rana (27) and Harry Stanford (23), helped Rodmersham to 176 all out.

It proved to be a winning total as two of Faversham’s top three departed without scoring.

Henry Goss made 41 but only two of his team-mates passed 20 as the Rodmersham bowlers turned the screw. Rana took 3-17 while Adam Hodder (2-8) and Darren Nokes (2-14) picked up two wickets each to help dismiss Faversham for 120.

Bromley Town made the most of the conditions by batting first and racking up 304 all out at home to Chislehurst & West Kent.

Captain Lewis Dicker hit 17 boundaries on his way to

101 and opener Adam Dicker contributed 63 while Michael Robertson scored 40.

In reply, Hetti Waruna Rajapasha scored 69 for Chislehurst but he received no support and they collapsed to 123 all out.

Matt Twose was the pick of the Bromley bowlers, taking 3-19, while there were two wickets each for Robertson (2-11) and Shahid Mushtaq (2-16).

The win leaves Bromley Town 16 points clear of secondplaced Littlebourne, who won a low-scoring match at home to Offham.

Littlebourne were all out for 157 but their bowlers dug them out of a hole by dismissing Offham for just 93. Hartley’s woes continued with a humiliating defeat at Betteshanger Colliery Welfare.

They were skittled out for just 56 after the home side, one of only two teams below them at the start of play, had posted 205-6.

Hartley have now dropped into the relegation zone with a dismal record of one win and seven defeats to their name so far.

Elsewhere in the division, Bexley 3rds beat The Roebucks by 100 runs, scoring 234 all out and then dismissing their hosts for 134. Half-centuries from Sam Brady (79) and Harry Turner (60) were key for Bexley while Tharusha Tilakarathne’s 34 lower down the order was the best The Roebucks could manage in reply.
