Greedy puss doubles in size after living at food court off M25

A beloved cat, missing for two years, has returned home after being found living at a motorway service station.

Owner Ella Clark, 19, was stunned to hear five-year-old Cobweb had settled at Clacket Lane, off the M25, just 20 minutes away from the family home in Westerham after wandering offin2017.

But that wasn’t the only surprise in store.

The greedy girl had also grown into a fur-midable size, doubling in weight after presumably feasting on scraps left over by motorists stopping for a snack at the food court, which includes a McDonald’s, Krispy Kreme doughnut shop, and sushi bar Chozen Noodle.

Ella said she had completely given up hope of every seeing her treasured tabby again and was overjoyed when her mum, Lizzie Hughes, received a call to say she had been found.

The reunion was made possible after the manager of Clacket Lane services was faced with a flurry of enquiries from motorists about adopting Cobweb. It was then she was taken to Mark Nelson Vets, in London Road, Westerham, to see if she was micro-chipped. Fortunately her contact information was all up-to-date. Cobweb, who is thought to have left after a fight with her brother Tempest, is now settling back in at home, having been treated for a skin condition. Ella said: “Up to a year after she disappeared, my mum wandered round the countryside calling for her.

“It was extremely upsetting and we just hoped that she would cope living rough as she is streetwise. We thought the bestcase scenario was that someone might have taken her in.

“She was always very happy at home, she just didn’t have a good relationship with Tempest. “After two years, we had no expectation of ever seeing her again.

“When my mum received the call from the vets, it was so emotional, we both started crying.”
