Andy Barr scored a late equaliser as Sutton Valence 2nds drew 3-3 with Burnt Ash in Kent Open Premier B.

Ash settled quickly, opening up a 2-0 lead, but Valence hit back as a string of passes set up player-of-the-match James Tragett inside the D.

Valence started the second half well, having most of the ball and creating chances, only Marden Russets men’s 2nds lost

6-5 at Gravesham & Wellcome in a rollercoas­ter match in Kent Open Premier A.

Russets led 1-0, 4-3 and 5-4 but were beaten at the death. to concede against the run of play.

Richard Turnill made no mistake after finding himself unmarked in the D for 3-2 and while stand-in captain Chris Sheldon missed a penalty flick, Barr equalised from a short corner with two minutes of the contest left.

Sutton Valence vets lost a 4-0 lead at Stoke Green in the Southern Counties Hockey Conference.

Valence travelled with seven players but their hosts made up the numbers and three of the four early goals came from loanees.

Henry Humphrey – playing his first game in three years – also struck.

Stoke pulled three back before a well-struck goal from Rupert Humphrey for Valence but it finished 7-5 to the home side. K Sports men’s 1sts scored eight without reply in their first home game of the Kent Area Division 2 season on Saturday.

Kobs had several chances against BBHC 2nds before player-of-the-match Mike Nock opened the scoring from Paul Cook’s short corner.

Ben Newmarch scored the second, following a superb disguised pass from James Clarkley, and it was Clarkley who slotted the third. Newmarch scored his second, with skipper Cook and another for Nock making it 6-0.

BBHC tried to find a way back but left gaps for K Sports to exploit, with Nock and Newmarch completing their hat-tricks.

Nock’s third came from a penalty corner while Newmarch scored a thunderbol­t to seal his treble. K Sports ladies’ 1sts took just six minutes to open the scoring in their 2-1 win over Herne Bay in Kent Division 3. Naomi Duthie was the scorer, finishing from a tight angle after Erica Yeong and Sharon McAllen combined to slip her in.

Kobs soon doubled their lead with Yeong sprinting goalwards and finishing with an excellent reverse shot, again from a tight angle.

Moon, Neil Mitchell, Darren Body and Dave Wood, while defender Matt Savage was the player-of-the-match.

The ladies’ 3rds lost 8-0 at home to Tunbridge Wells in Kent Division 6.

Wells scored four goals in either half despite the best efforts of defenders Ava Iaquaniell­o, Tracy Smith and Phoebe Tresnan and halves Ellan Iaquaniell­o – named player-of-the-match on her debut – and Sharma Ambanpola.
