Sports reach double figures
K Sports men’s 2nds ran riot against Folkestone on Saturday – winning 13-0.
Dave Wood scored four times, there were hat-tricks for Rich Moon and Andy Smith, while James Dench (2) and Richard Thorogood completed the Kent Division 2 rout. Ben Chadwick was named man-of-thematch.
The men’s 1sts came from a goal down to win 2-1 at New Beccehamians in Kent Area Division 2. Kobs settled and when Brook Fowler’s shot was stopped on the line by a defender’s foot, Mike Nock’s penalty flick – struck low and fast – gave the keeper no chance.
The winner followed after some tireless work from Neil Smith, James Clarkley and Nock to get the ball up to Ben Newmarch. Newmarch drove into the D before slipping the ball to Ewan Hendry who turned a defender and fired home. James Marshall was man-ofthe-match.
In Kent Division 3, the men’s 3rds lost 4-2 at Canterbury Friars. Defensive midfielder Keith Adie set up the breakthrough in the first half, threading the ball into the D for captain Nick Shread to pounce. Canterbury levelled at the start of the second half but Kobs regained the lead when Adie converted a short corner.
It proved short-lived, though, with Canterbury hitting back to win an entertaining match.
An intelligent display in an unfamiliar central midfield role saw Joel Crampton named man-ofthe-match, while goalkeeper Aaron Divall was among the other players to impress.
Leon Stubley’s hat-trick helped the men’s 4ths beat Burnt Ash 8-1 in Kent Division 4.
There were two goals for Ben Chadwick and Mark Brown, with Dave Wood also on target.
