Words won’t stop hardship

-

I would accuse the current Conservative government of not caring about the majority of British people who are currently suffering hardship in finding how to make ends meet and who will continue to do so well into the future unless the government acts on behalf of its citizens.

I was always told by my parents ‘charity begins at home’ yet this government would rather squander very large amounts of money on matters that bring no results, both here and overseas, and which could have been spent on the British people to help with energy costs, food costs, housing tax costs, etc, all of which are placing a burden on personal finances.

The question of overseas aid that the present government seems to take great pride in (obviously to appear benevolent) is increasing and, as most of us know, some is going to corrupt governments and is never used for its true purpose.

Why do they do this when that amount of money should be spent for those living in this country? That money could have been spent on the British people in the form of payments to help with costs. It appears to me and the majority that the they can find the money when they want to but something nearer to home, the answer from Sunak, the Chancellor, is ‘well we have to balance the public finances so sorry’.

What the Conservatives and Mr Sunak did in the ‘Spring Statement’ was nothing at all. A token gesture of 5p off petrol yet these companies go on making huge profits to pay the CEO’s extreme salary and bonus.

I have voted Conservative all my life, as did my parents. Every minister speaks of what they have done and what they are going to do for the people of this country. They are just meaningless words with no action.
