Mote leave victory late

The Mote made it two wins from two in Division 1 of the Kent League this summer, edging past Old Wilsonians by two wickets on Saturday.

Thomas Harvey was the pick of The Mote bowlers as his figures of 2-28 helped restrict the home team to 207-9.

Jesse Christense­n top-scored in reply (59), The Mote winning with a single ball to spare.

Leeds and Broomfield were unable to prevent Both Byron Gould (192) and Elliot Lewis (103) scoring centuries for Whitstable in Division 2.

They put on 271 for the second wicket before Stuart Drakeley added a 38-ball 52 as Whitstable posted a huge 450-8.

Leeds and Broomfield made a fair fist of the reply, posting 2659. Tom Evans (47) was the pick of their batsmen.

In Division 3, Kings Hill dismissed Cowdrey for 81 on their way to a nine-wicket win.

Opening bowlers Miles Richardson (4-18) and Lachlan Crump (4-24) did the damage before Richard Nicol and Richardson led them home.

Staplehurs­t were beaten by one wicket at home to Tonbridge in Division 4.

Batting first, Luke Mangold and Nathan Smith both scored 29 in their 167 all out. Tom Henson took 5-36 but Khurram Shehzad (36) top-scored for Tonbridge, supported by wicketkeep­er Mike Jessop (35).

Offham were hammered by Chislehurs­t & West Kent by 236 runs in Division 5.

Jack Sanson (127) led Chislehurs­t to 323-6 before Offham were 87 all out in the 33rd over.

It was a similar story for Addington Village who lost to a Walmer side who made 307-3.

Captain Eoin McGrath topscored with an 108-ball 120 not out, while he was supported by big-hitting Cody Nieuwoudt (75 from 45 balls) and Connor McMillan (64).

In reply, Joe Johnson (2-48), McMillan (2-34) and Toby Douglas (3-17) did the damage despite opener James Worrall’s half-century in their 183.

In 2nd XI Division 2, The Mote 2nds scored 304-6 on their way to a huge victory over Old Wilsonians.

Opener Jason White (119) and Glen Aukett (110 not out) scored centuries for The Mote. Chris Feltham (4-36), Fergie Conway (3-3) and Tobin Thomas (3-8) helped dismiss Old Wilsonians for 63 inside 20 overs.

Rainham 2nds lost by 76 runs at Leeds & Broomfield 2nds.

James Austin (53) top scored for Rainham but Ben Davis (139), Chris Davis (93) and Justin Hubbard (56 not out) had already helped Leeds & Broomfield post 320-3.

Harvel 2nds were skittled for 91 as they fell to a 10-wicket loss to Kings Hill 2nds in Division 4.

Ben Clarke (3-23), Jack Cook (3-26) and Joe Jarmyn (3-39) helped dismiss Harvel for 91.

Offham 2nds lost by 139 runs to the Roebucks in Division 5.

Batting first, Ryan Carter’s 123 guided Roebucks to 299-8 from their 45 overs and good work by Kingsley Richardson (4-32) meant no Offham batsman could get going as they were 160 all out in the 45th over.

Staplehurs­t 2nds earned a nine-wicket win at Gore Court in Division 5.

Kingsley Richardson (3-4) was the pick of the bowlers as Gore Court were bowled out for just 58 before Fahad Masood (32 not out) and Christophe­r Watts (24 not out) completed a comfortabl­e victory.

Addington Village 2nds were dismissed for 49 as they lost to Bromley 4ths by nine wickets, Walith Samsudeen taking 7-17.
